from drewproposestokelly After 4+ years of dating his college sweetheart, Drew casually asked Kelly to go to dinner on November 10th, 2011. Always suspicious and engagement-minded, Kelly had a coworker snoop that day to see if Drew was planning to propose. When her coworker told her the holdup in proposing was that Drew hadn’t asked for her parents’ blessing yet, Kelly huffily...

are you a garden bride?
Taken from Style Me Pretty… 1. Is your favorite read Jane Eyre? Or maybe Pride and Prejudice? Yeahhh…. never read those. 2. Can you spot a peony from a mile away? And maybe even have a few fakies to fill your vases when peonies have come and gone? I do love peonies. But not as much as my best friend! 3. Do you see yourself in the prettiest of pretty oh so flowy frocks? I’d...

real wedding: kendel + jeff part two
Kendel incorporated so many cute little DIY and crafty details into her day. From ordering little origami birds (which we strung with fishing line from the trees out in front of her ceremony) to the cootie-catcher programs, printed coozies, and Polaroid picture “guest book,” her day was complete with all sorts of little lovelies. Venue:  Cheekwood Botanical Gardens Planner:...

real wedding: kendel + jeff →
I had the privilege of working with Kendel and Jeff on the planning of their September 24th wedding this year! Kendel looked stunning in her Vera Wang “Dianna” gown (bought on PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com - such a great resource!). She and Jeffrey got married at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and had their reception at the garden’s Frist Center, a beautiful brick courtyard with...

lexiwiseman asked: Thank you for writing the reasons why it is good to not be engaged today. I'm only 18 and I find myself drooling over dresses and rings. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 2 and a half years, and we talk about getting married, our pastor even asked if we would promise that he would be the one to marry us when the time came. I know God has a reason that we aren't getting married...

reasons why it's good to not be engaged today
(Taken from my personal blog. :) Sometimes you just have to remind yourself these things. I do not have to worry about financing a wedding today. I can shamelessly gawk at engagement rings without ever feeling remorse for “cheating” on MY ring. (Cushion cut, over 2 carats. Maybe even 3. Definitely not anything like what I will get!) I have more time for planning my dream day! I...

wedding blogger's wedding musings
As a wedding blogger, what is your favorite part of other people’s weddings? Oooh, I don’t even know if I could pinpoint it to just one thing… I really love seeing bride’s choice of dress, the decor, little details that are thoughtful and meaningful. Those are the best.   What do you anticipate will be your favorite part of your wedding?   Getting to marry my best friend!...

my wedding, extended version.
After years of musing about my dream wedding, here’s what I’ve come up with. 1) Ring: This has morphed and changed and done all sorts of things from the moment I started looking to now. I like several different styles:  round brilliant (european cut) set in a thin platinum band with tapered baguettes, pear-shaped diamond with a thin pave diamond band and halo, oval-shaped diamond with...

white candle heart thumping
In my sorority, we have something called a White Candle Ceremony whenever one of our members gets lavaliered, engaged, married, or pregnant. A pretty white candle is passed around while we sing a song, and whomever is the lucky lady blows out the flame at the appropriate time (1st round - lavaliered, 2nd round - engaged, etc). I have waited my entire collegiate experience for the moment when I...

dreaming (disclaimer: this is not real life)
How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Drew was the first boy I met at college. A mutual friend introduced us the day before classes started our freshman year at Belmont. When I couldn’t find anyone I knew for the evening’s big candlelit ceremony (the Towering Tradition), he let me sit by him. He asked me to go for a walk at the end of the night, and it’s all history...

oh, sweet elopements, how i love thee!
You would probably never guess this of me (considering I am MISS wedding planner extraordinaire), but boy, do I love a good elopement! Here’s the reasons why: 1. Wedding dresses are typically shorter, less expensive, and unique. Of course I LOVE long ivory gowns, but there’s something special about a little white dress. (Or bright sapphire blue dress. Or whatever you want!) 2. I...

it burns my biscuit...
when i hear brides complain about bridesmaids’ dress choices that are “not bridesmaid enough.” not appropriate for a wedding? totally understandable. not the right color? pretty reasonable. draws attention away from the bride? get rid of it right now. but not bridesmaid-y enough? no. dumb. i understand there are really pretty traditional bridesmaid dresses, but using...

more advice #engage11
I’m getting addicted to these tweets! Many people fail in the quest for entrepreneurialism for one simple reason - they were not intentional on ONLY one thing. The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too hiigh and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it. When you focus on just one thing, you’ll build your business in a much bigger way. Use your inside...
